If you are a new player and are trying to build a guild up, good luck. That is a tough way to go.
If you are experienced and have access to areas where people have to team up then spend some time in teams and ask people that you like playing with if you can put them on your friends list. Build on it from there. If your guild is small you may just want to disband it and go join a strong guild. The best way to get a lot of bodies is to be a high level experienced player in a low level area and offer to help newer players and breeze them through a mission. If you wow them, then they make good recruiting fodder. However, these players tend to need a lot of nurturing and you will end up losing a lot of them. |

this is the way to go... because besides getting untagged people you might encounter people that are unhappy with their current guild and will consider the chance of getting in a new guild... |

Is there any way to let others IG know that im NOT INTRESTED(sry) . If i was, i wouldent pick just any guild i came across IG, i would first go look on the net. Sry for off topic, but sometimes it really anouying. Especially people who dont give up after a pollite ,no thnx mzzls |

Yes, there is a way.
PuG with your small guild and make friends. Play a lot with those friends, with the rest of your guildies. If they like your playing style and guild, they might want to join you. If you are unable to play with your guildies, just PuG a lot and make friends that way. After some time and a lot of playing with them, you can ask them to join you. Be honest on the status of your guild, I think that's very important. |

Advertise. Start a website (there are choices ofr free websites) GW Guru has a roster of guilds, plus forums for recruiting. The Guild Wars Wiki now has an area where you can list your guild. Also list your guild on sites like Extreme 100. Always list you website in these ads. Post a guild charter so prospective members can see what kind of guild you are, and what you are not. Be honest and sincere so new members aren't mislead and drop soon after joining.
Please DO NOT spam in town. Most people find that rude and will not join your guild. |

OP - To be frank, starting a new guild just isn't worth the hassle. Most established guilds were created 2 years ago. To start a new, successful guild now you will have to put your gameplay on hold, dig out some cash and start inviting people.
Once you get these people, you will need to give them plenty of attention, farm with them, play with them, help them out..all this comes at a cost..you won't be able to do anything for yourself for quite sometime. I've been here myself. I had a guild of around 20-25 people, I had no time for myself, if I wasn't helping with a build I was taking someone through the low level areas. Consider hard, because once you start you have to dedicate 100% of your time to getting a stable core of guildmembers before you can even consider playing again.

Thing with wiki's guild list is that other guilds can come along, and try and get you to join them etc. One random alliance approached ours and said we could join them, but (as we're all small guilds) we had to merge into one to join them, when one of the guilds in their alliance was a mule one, and poor halls.
But generally playing with people and getting to know them is the best way |

I've been in command of a mid-sized guild since a couple of monts (established 2005) and being guild leader takes a lot of time. You have to talk a lot to people and arrange things for your guild and keep people happy. I don't have responsibility for the website, that is maintained by the guild founder. When the leader is not present (happened with our previous leader) things go bad fast, even in an established guild. Experienced officers can take away some pressure, but not all. I have recently seen a decent alliance guild fall apart because their leader gave up and their new leader was not up to the task. Today, we made my second account guild leader, because I want to give the members the oppurtunity to build it up again and the guild has full hall. So I am going to discuss things with them, probably invite them in my guild. This is a guild that was once about 50 members. That's how important good guild leaders are! |

The same thing happens when I enter a town. I get a join group window multiple times without even being asked if I want to be in a group. I really think this is rude. If I wanted either I would ask. There is a guild section on this forum that you can post your guild in. Don't know if it works very well though. |

Well... sme people may just simply spam or invite anyone without guild tag.
But I make a different thing. I go help people without guild tag. After some time played, if they are boring, and never talk, or do not like to learn about the game, or just pretend you to give them things for free or having the missions made... I forget about them. If they are nice people who likes the game, are sociable and enjoys making parties ith people I give them the option to join us... Just as vampires would do... |

Make a permanent presearing character and recruit there. Usually you'll find many new players there looking for a guild. It will take an investment tho, since these players are often newbies.

We have had several guild members leave to start their own guilds. Most come back.
It may sound cool to have your own guild, but it is not easy starting a new one. Our guild around two years old, and it takes work to keep a guild together. We are constantly recruiting (via the internet .... not ingame) but our membership stays about the same because of people leaving, or getting booted for inactivity. |

I am a officer in a large guild with a large alliance, recruiting to keep guildmembership around 75-100 players is sometimes pretty hard. I find however new players are the best targets for recruitment. Go into early areas or presearing and help people with missions, make friends and try to help them learn the ropes. If you do these people will be more loyasl and likely to stay around and help you out.
Dont spam in large towns, instead drop a line every once in a while. Kinda fish for results. Use the party search menu, and dont blind invite. People hate that. For recruiting more experienced players hang around elite mission areas like DoA, urgz, deep, and FOW/UW. Do NOT however make someone an officer without geting to know them. Officers should be proven in ur guild. There are several guilds that have collapse because they made someone an officer and they decided to kick all the members for no reason. Lastly, a full hall and strong alliance go along way to help recruit. Try to find someone witha strong alliance that will take ur guild in, and get all the ammenities in ur GH. People hate an empty hall. |
